A brand to be FOND OF: What began in 2010 with an ergonomic, sustainably produced schoolbag turned out into a globally active company with seven independent brands within the last 10 years. Driven by the vision to design extraordinary backpacks for all ages and life situations, the idea for SALZEN (formerly AEP) was born. Three years after our birth in 2017 we are looking back on a success story interrupted by a global pandemic and we are once more super thankful for our loyal partner and trading network and our New Work community.

Minimalistic, highly functional, premium & fair. Everything we do at SALZEN follows these four attributes. Our current product range is the result of a long journey, during which we constantly question ourselves and challenge the status quo.

At SALZEN our mission is to shape a sustainable and responsible future. As a bluesign® system partner and a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) we strive for a transparent and eco-friendly production and we are highly committed to improve working conditions in the textile industry. The inner linings of our backpacks and travel accessories are already made of PET recycled bottles and all backpacks are PFC-free yet water-repellent. 

Our strive for maximum functionality is not only reflected in the well thought-out features, but also in the design of our backpacks and essentials. The minimalist look of our products is the result of a consistent reduction: we abstain distracting details, unnecessary pockets or zippers and we chose discreet colors only, which can be combined with almost every outfit.

SALZEN products are made to last. Therefore we only use premium materials – from high quality and terracare® certified leather with european origin to 100 % PET-recycled yarn, which builds the inner linings of all our backpacks and travel accessories.
